After breakfast, we begin our tour of Cabo Verde with a morning beach walk to the picturesque Spiaggia di Curralinho. This beach is known for its natural beauty and crystal clear waters. During the walk, we will visit the Ponta da Varandinha cave and take in the stunning views of the rugged cliffs and crashing waves. For those interested, there is the option to book a quad ride or a surf session. After the walk, we will enjoy a barbecue lunch before returning to the hotel in the early afternoon. In the evening, we embark on a 4WD excursion to the beach of Cabo Santa Maria, famous for its shipwreck and the man-made rock formation. We will also visit the charming surrounding villages and the hilltop Church of St Fatima for a panoramic view. We return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After a delicious breakfast, we embark on a leisurely excursion to the Porto Impromptu Souvenir Center where you can find a wide variety of handmade local crafts at affordable prices. As the morning progresses, we head to Praia de Chaves, a beautiful beach with dunes, rocky cliffs, and crystal clear turquoise waters. Spend a few hours relaxing, taking a beach walk and enjoying optional water activities (which can be arranged in advance). In the afternoon, we have an optional day tour to the beautiful beach of Praia Santa Monica, known for its pure white sand. We return to our hotel in Boa Vista for dinner and a comfortable night’s rest.
Departing after breakfast, we catch our domestic flight to Praia, the capital of Santiago Island. Upon arrival at the airport, we transfer to a private car for a scenic 2-hour drive to Tarrafal. We enjoy a BBQ lunch at the Tarrafal beach, and then visit the Konzentrationslager Colonial Penal de Tarrafal, a historical site that serves as a reminder of the country’s Portuguese colonial past. The prison was built in the 1930s during the Spanish Civil War and was used to detain criminals from the mainland. The site is known for its inhumane and cruel treatment of prisoners, including forced labor.
After breakfast, we embark on a guided tour of Tarrafal, taking in the city’s highlights such as the Square, the Santo Amaro Abade Cathedral, the bustling local market, and the various colonial buildings that dot the town. The afternoon is free for you to relax at the hotel or participate in optional activities.
In the morning, we embark on a scenic drive to Praia, the capital of the country, and check-in at the Pescador Hotel, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we take a photogenic walk along the picturesque Rue Banana in the historic Citade Velha. We then visit Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosario, the oldest church in the world built by colonial masters in the late 1400s. The church still boasts its Manueline Gothic architecture, a testament to the architectural style popular during its construction. We continue our tour by visiting the remains of the Se Cathedral, the only Mudejar-style church built in Africa. We end the day with a stop at the World Heritage Site of Fortaleza Real de San Felipe.
After visiting the Sala-Museu Amilcar Cabral, we will head to the Mercado de Sucupira, an exciting market filled with a diverse array of local goods. Here, you will find handcrafted items such as basketry, pottery, and other traditional crafts. Additionally, you will find fresh produce, livestock, and other everyday products. This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and take home some unique souvenirs.
Today, you have the option to relax and unwind at the hotel. Our shuttle service will be available to take you to the airport a few hours before your international flight departs. The tour comes to an end this day.
