Boali Falls

It is a major branch of the M’bari River and is sure to leave visitors in awe of its powerful flow. Early in the morning, we set out for a journey to Mbaiki, located 100 km from the capital of Bangui. The road to Mbaiki is surrounded by lush tropical rainforest and dotted with cash crop plantations such as coffee, cacao, and palm. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to observe the culture and lifestyle of the Bantu people, including the Lobaye tribes. A highlight of the journey will be the chance to visit the settlements of the Babinga Pygmies, including the village of Kenga. After spending some time with the pygmies and learning about their culture and ways of life, we will begin our journey back to Bangui, arriving in the early evening. Dinner and overnight at Ledger Plaza Hotel.
Today we embark on a day trip to Boali, located 100 km north of Bangui. The road to Boali is fully paved and surrounded by stretches of forest savannah vegetation, with small villages dotting the landscape where residents make a living through small-scale farming, trading, traditional hunting, and fishing. After a couple of hours of driving, we will arrive at the Boali Falls, one of the most spectacular natural monuments in the country. Measuring 250 m wide x 50m high, the falls are truly awe-inspiring. We will also have the chance to visit the Boali Hydroelectric Dam before enjoying lunch at a nearby restaurant. In the early afternoon, we will make our way back to Bangui, arriving in the evening.
Early in the morning, after a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we embark on a tour of Bangui, also known as « Bangui La Coquette », a nickname reminiscent of the city’s past glory days as part of French Equatorial Africa. Despite the turmoil the country has faced in recent decades, Bangui still boasts a number of landmarks of its past grandeur. Our first stop is the iconic Romanesque white arch with green trimmings, known as L’Arche Blanche Triomphale, which was built in 1979 by the late dictator Jean Bedel. This arch serves as the gateway into the city, leading us straight to the bustling neighborhood of La Place de la Republique. Next, we visit the beautiful Palais Présidentiel, which was once the Bokassa Palace.
Other attractions in the city include the Marche Central, a bustling market filled with vendors selling a variety of goods; the Cathédrale Notre Dame de Bangui, a beautiful Catholic church; the central Mosque; the top hill of Bangui La Coquette, which offers a panoramic view of the city; and the Boganda Museum, which has been closed since the last unrest and is currently undergoing refurbishment. In the afternoon, we will also visit the Ubangi River, which serves as the natural border between the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Depending on your flight schedule, your guide will be available to assist you with any last-minute activities or services before your departure. It is recommended to leave the hotel before noon and arrive at the airport a couple of hours before your connecting flight. Our service ends once you have successfully checked in at the airport.
