The Campo Ma’an National Park
Excursions in the park consist of following some of the tracks frequented by large mammals. We will also discover the Menve’ele Falls during our stay. Dinners and nights will be spent in tents or at the Platform on the banks of the Ntem River with a lush landscape and the possibility of paddle boat rides.
The Lobe Falls
Breakfast, relaxation at the beach, pirogue trip on the Lobe River, visit of the Lobe Falls, unique in the world, which flow into the ocean. If you are not afraid of the dugout canoes, you can make a close visit. Shrimp tasting at the edge of the falls, visit of the landing stage and possibility of tasting fresh fish.
Upon arrival at the DLA International airport, you will be greeted by our staff member who will escort you to your private transportation for the hotel transfer. After checking in, you will have a briefing with your guide in the hotel lobby to finalize the next day’s itinerary. Afterwards, you will have dinner at the hotel restaurant.
We leave Douala early this morning and embark on a 250km drive for approximately 5h drive over a partially well-maintained road after Kribi. The Douala –Kribi road is a very wide rainforest landscape, picturesque and very beautiful, with interesting and rustic architectural design of the habitations providing a picture of the people daily life. Among the discoveries along the way, the German bridge dating from the German colonial era in Cameroon, gives a panoramic view to the hydroelectric dam and the aluminum company.
Experience the thrill of gorilla trekking in Cameroon’s Campo Ma’an National Park. With the habituation of a sizable group of gorillas on the Dipikar Islands, visitors can now have the opportunity to observe these majestic primates up close. In addition to gorillas, the park is home to a diverse array of wildlife including red river hogs, chimpanzees, elephants, pangolins, and antelopes. This day we have a second Gorilla trek In the Island. Just like done the eve, we go after Gorilla traces through a forest walk until we get close to the Gorilla family. On the way, there are great chances to spot other species like monkeys, chimps, antelopes, birds and much more. We expect to trek back to the Lodge in the afternoon for diner and night.
We depart from Campo early in the morning and head back to Kribi on a dirt/muddy road. One of our stops along the way is the fisherman village of Ebodje, where highlights include visiting the turtle nesting site (available from November to March), the turtle museum, the beautiful beaches and even the Wolf Rock site. As we get closer to Kribi (20 km), another interesting stop is the recently established seaport. By late afternoon, we reach Kribi and spend the rest of the evening unwinding on the hotel’s private beach.
Following breakfast, we drive to the Lobe River harbor and board a canoe for a serene and tranquil journey on the water. The canoe ride on the Lobe River is a delightful experience for bird enthusiasts as there are opportunities to spot a variety of bird species in the surrounding forest on both sides of the river.
Depending on the schedule of your flight, we depart from Kribi early and drive to Douala, arriving three hours later. If time allows, we take a tour of Cameroon’s economic capital, visiting the vibrant and colorful market, the commercial district, and the craft center before it closes. Afterwards, we drive to the airport to catch the connecting flight back home. The tour concludes.
